About Our Firm

Since January 1990, our firm has been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses with a Spanish flavor (all of our employees are bilingual). Our expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as troubleshooting all financial aspects of your business, IRS representation, bookkeeping services, computerized accounting consulting, financial statements, and financial planning. We march to the beat of a different drummer and want our clients to know that we go above and beyond.

Our Team

Guillermo Arauz - Owner & CEO

Guillermo (Bill) was born in Mexico City and raised in the Chicagoland area since 1958.

He attended Holy Innocents Grammer School, graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1974, proudly served in the US Army 1975-78 and was Honorably Discharged in 1981.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University in 1984 (3.5/4.0 GPA).

Past and current memberships have included Treasurer Wicker Park/Bucktown Chamber Of Commerce, Illinois CPA's for the Public Interest, Phi Beta Kappa, National Honors Fraternity.

Guillermo's career started when he worked for two CPA firms for 5 years then went into the private sector for 2 years. He felt the call to return to public accounting and started Arauz & Company in January of 1990.

Guillermo Arauz, Jr. - Team Leader

Guillermo, or as many of you know him "Junior" is currently working on his Accounting Degree at Northeastern Illinois University.

Guillermo has been an integral part of the firm since April 1999.

He is the accounting staff's team leader and his father's right hand.

He is the proud new father of twins! Congratulations!!

Hernando Salazar - Staff Accountant / Administrator

Hernando graduated from Indiana University with an MBA in May 2002.

He also earned an Engineering Degree BSME from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia in 1998.

Hernando is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.

Juan Carlos Lopez - Staff Accountant

Juan Carlos graduated as a Public Accountant from Santa Maria University 1992, Caracas, Venezuela.

Additionally, he was working on his Master's degree in Taxation prior to coming the US and plans on continuing his Master's here in the US.
